Join the Kill Devil Hills Fire Department at Fire Station 14 (1630 North Croatan Highway, Kill Devil Hills, NC) on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM to tour the Fire Station, meet members of the team, and check out their equipment, as well as participate in fun activities for all ages!

Historic Landmark Dedication Ceremony

and Open Homes Tour

Take a step back in time to the Outer Banks of Yesterday!

The Town of Kill Devil Hills Historic Landmarks Commission proudly presents its annual Dedication Ceremony and Homes Tour on Friday, October 10, 2025, and you are invited!

1:30 p.m.  -  The event begins at KDH Town Hall: A Dedication Ceremony for the newest Historic Landmarks will take place at KDH Town Hall, 102 Town Hall Drive, Kill Devil Hills.  A video series highlighting the Town’s historically designated homes, which includes homeowner interviews and interior footage, will be shown. Light refreshments will be served as well.  

2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.    -  The self-guided tour of Historic Designated Homes will take place. A Historic Landmark guide and list of homes participating in the tour can be picked up at 102 Town Hall Drive immediately following the Dedication Ceremony.

Fall Bulk Trash Collection

The Town of Kill Devil Hills Public Services Department will begin collection of APPROVED bulk trash items from IMPROVED properties within the Town of Kill Devil Hills on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.  APPROVED items for collection should be placed in the street right-of-way not later than Tuesday, October 14, 2025.

Beach Driving Announcement for the 2025 season

KDH Beach Driving 

Kill Devil Hills’ beach driving permits are now on sale for the 2025-2026 season. The Town’s beach driving season runs from October 1st through April 30th. KDH beach driving permits are ONLY good for the Town of Kill Devil Hills beach.

Permits can be purchased at the following locations:

• KDH Finance Department: Cashier’s Counter, located on the second floor of Town Hall, 102 Town Hall Drive, Kill Devil Hills, NC. Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday

• Stop N Shop (seasonal permits only): 100 S. Virginia Dare Trail, Kill Devil Hills, NC. Hours: 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. Sunday – Saturday.
