Dare County’s Special Medical Needs Registry

Dare County has released a new video that highlights the Special Medical Needs Registry, which is a list of individuals throughout the county who require assistance with medical care and/or personal care during an evacuation for a hurricane or while sheltering during a storm due to any physical and/or mental impairments those individuals may have.

The Special Medical Needs Registry is updated and maintained by the Dare County Department of Health & Human Services' Social Services Division, whose staff works diligently to ensure that these individuals are properly assisted before, during and after a storm.

View the video on Dare County’s YouTube channel

Make a Splash at the Grand Opening

of the Town's Splash Pad!

Kill Devil Hills has had many 'firsts.' We’re home to the world’s first flight, and, here in our home of Dare County, we are the first to have a disc golf course, a fully accessible beach access, and now a Splash Pad! Please plan to join us to celebrate another of our firsts at our Grand Opening of the Splash Pad at Meekins Field Park on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. The event will include a welcome and ribbon cutting from the Town’s Board of Commissioners. Following the cutting of the ribbon, it will be ‘game on’ as the water begins to flow from the Splash Pad and its features. (Be sure to wear your bathing suit or water clothes, to partake in the fun!) Event attendees will also be provided with free snowballs from Island Snowball Company, free hotdogs grilled by Town staff, and Kill Devil Hills' giveaways to commemorate this special occasion. Event Location: Meekins Field Park, 1634 North Croatan Highway in Kill Devil Hills More information about the Splash Pad can be found on the Town’s website, https://www.kdhnc.com/1111/Splash-Pad
