When disaster strikes, your immediate concern will be your safety and the safety of those you care about. Once the immediate danger passes, however, having your important documents will be crucial to help you start the recovery process quickly. Take the time now to safeguard these critical documents to help you avoid additional stress during the difficult days following a disaster.
This checklist from FEMA can help you get started.
Dare County’s Special Medical Needs Registry
Dare County has released a new video that highlights the Special Medical Needs Registry, which is a list of individuals throughout the county who require assistance with medical care and/or personal care during an evacuation for a hurricane or while sheltering during a storm due to any physical and/or mental impairments those individuals may have.
The Special Medical Needs Registry is updated and maintained by the Dare County Department of Health & Human Services' Social Services Division, whose staff works diligently to ensure that these individuals are properly assisted before, during and after a storm.
