On Tuesday, April 5, 2022, the Kill Devil Hills Historic Landmarks Commission will hold a public hearing to receive public comments on the following item: Certificate of Appropriateness Application – 2021 South Virginia Dare Trail, Christensen/Small Cottage – Request for demolition of property

On Monday, April 11, 2022, the Kill Devil Hills Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing to receive public comments, both written and oral on the proposed item: To Permanently Close a Portion of West Eighth Street.

 PLANNED TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE 
West Third Street at the intersection with Seminole Street
Monday, March 21, 2022


The Town of Kill Devil Hills will have a temporary road closure beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, March 21, 2022, for West Third Street at the intersection with Seminole Street for utility and roadway improvements by Fred Smith Company.
 
Through traffic on West Third Street at the intersection will be prohibited during this closure. Local traffic will access West Third Street from the west using Bay Drive. Creek Street to the west of the closure can be used to detour from West Third Street to Clam Shell Drive, east to Seminole Street and on to West Third Street east of the closure. 
 
West Third Street will remain open from the west and east of the closure for access to adjacent properties throughout the closure.
 
The temporary road closure is scheduled to end by 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 21, 2022.

Please take advantage of the Town’s Recycle and Dry Trash Drop-Off Centers, located at 701 Bermuda Bay Boulevard, which are open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Saturday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Recycle Center services are available for anyone; however, the Dry Trash Drop-Off services are available to Town residents and property owners only and a permit is required.  Obtain a permit at the Public Services office, 107 Town Hall Drive, or call 252-480-4080 for more information.

Public Comment Solicited for 
System Development Fees Update

The Town of Kill Devil Hills has scheduled a Public Hearing on Monday, April 11, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. at the Town Hall Meeting Room to consider an update to its System Development Fees (SDFs), which replaced earlier “initial hook-up fees” or “impact fee” fee systems. SDFs are required to be reevaluated by municipalities at least every five years. 
 
As a part of this 45-day public review process, the Town is soliciting public input on the proposed SDFs. Information on the proposed SDFs is available for review on the Town’s website at https://www.kdhnc.com/438/News, with copies available for personal inspection at KDH Town Hall, 102 Town Hall Drive; the Public Services Administration Building, 107 Town Hall Drive; or the Dare County Library – KDH Branch, 400 Mustian Street.
