Planned Temporary Road Closure

West Martin Street at US 158

Tuesday, March 3 through Thursday, March 5, 2026

The Town of Kill Devil Hills will have a temporary road closure beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 3, and lasting through Thursday, March 5, 2026, for West Martin Street, from its intersection with US 158 to just beyond the first Walgreen’s entrance. The rear Walgreen’s entrance and the JK’s entrance will remain open and accessible from the west, via the detour route.

The temporary road closure is scheduled to end by 3:30 p.m. each day. 

This planned closure is necessary for the installation, by Hatchell Concrete Inc., of sidewalk and curbing along West Martin Street as it approaches US 158. US 158 will also experience lane closures during this period.

Due to an anticipated increase in traffic volumes during this closure, all motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians are urged to proceed with extra care and patience during their travels. 

West Martin Street Access:  Access to West Martin at the intersection with US 158 will be prohibited during this closure. Local traffic will access West Martin Street from the west using Airstrip Road to Fox Street, then Fox Street to West Martin Street. This will be the only marked detour route.

Walgreens Access: Blue Jay Street and Starbucks entrances to Walgreens are planned to remain open.

JK’s Access, Maner Dental Office: Entrances will remain open, but accessible only from the west, via the detour, during the closure.
