Town of Kill Devil Hills

October 31, 2025

Happy Halloween!

The Town of Kill Devil Hills wants all ghouls and buoys to stay safe when enjoying tonight's festivities. A few safety tips from the Captain’s Quarter:

Trick-or-treaters:

  • Add glow sticks or reflective tape to your costume so others can sea you coming.
  • Stay with your crew! Wee pirates sail with an adult captain at all times. Big kids: chart your course, stay with your crew, and return to your port at the designated time.
  • Don’t climb aboard strangers’ ships (aka homes or cars), and check your loot before you chow down.

Drivers:

  • Cruise slow — trick-or-treaters may appear faster than a fish trying to avoid becoming someone's dinner
  • Watch all roadways, crosswalks, and driveways like a hungry seagull (intently).
  • New drivers, drop anchor and enjoy the candy haul instead.

Have a spook-tacular and safe Halloween, Kill Devil Hills!

And beware of the sea-ghouls. . .

From glowing decorations to gear that lights the way on Halloween night, lithium-ion batteries power a lot this time of year. Keep your celebrations safe: •	Buy only listed products — look for a mark from a nationally recognized testing lab such as UL, ETL, or CSA. •	Charge safely — use the original cords, follow manufacturer instructions, and charge on a hard surface.
