Ready to fire up the grill this season? Follow these simple grilling safety tips to keep you and your loved ones out of harm's way. ?? Propane and charcoal grills should only be used outdoors and placed well away from the home, deck railings, and out from under eaves and overhanging branches. ?? Never leave your grill unattended. ?? Keep children and pets at least 3’ away from the grill area. ?? Keep your grill clean by removing grease or fat buildup from the grills and in trays below the grill. ?? Dispose of coals after they cool in a metal can. ?? If you choose to use lighter fluid, use only fluid intended for charcoal grills. Never add charcoal starter fluid to coals or kindling that has already been ignited.
Know Your Location It takes time for 911 operators to locate cell phone callers. The quickest and most efficient way to get help is to always know your exact location. •	Always take note of the street address of your accommodations—- not the house name. •	When visiting the beach, pay attention to the street you access the beach from, the beach access name or what milepost you are closest to. Every second counts in an emergency! •	If available, send someone to meet the first responders at the nearest access point to help emergency responders locate you quickly.

The best way to stay safe this July 4th is to attend public fireworks displays put on by trained professionals and avoid use of consumer fireworks, which can cause serious injury, burns, and damage due to their unpredictability. Make plans to watch the town's annual fireworks show: Tuesday, July 4th at 9:15 p.m. at Avalon Pier, 2111 North Virginia Dare Trail (Milepost 6) The ONLY type of consumer fireworks that are LEGAL in KDH are caps, snakes and glow worms, smoke devices, trick noise-makers, sparklers and other sparkling devices, such as fountains. If you do decide to use legal consumer fireworks in an area where the use of these devices is permitted, here are a few tips to keep you safe: •	Don't allow children to play with or light the devices. •	Light only one device at a time and quickly move away to enjoy the show. •	Never place any part of your body overtop the device. •	Have a bucket of water or water hose readily available where you are lighting the fireworks in case a fire starts. •	Do not attempt to relight a device that does not ignite and properly fire. Instead, soak it in water before properly disposing of it. •	Thoroughly soak all devices prior to disposing of them. Reintroducing the KDH Centennial Horse -

Town Hall just got a whole lot more vibrant with our newly unveiled public art fixture! We’re proud to reintroduce the Kill Devil Hills Centennial Horse, Pegasus, to the community!

Huge thanks and recognition to local artist, Cliff Dunn, who undertook the task and beautifully captured the essence of our community on the Town's Pegasus. Cliff truly brought our Town's heartbeat to life through his art!

As you look at this community symbol, you will see periods of light, dark, local KDH landmarks and features, you will even see how our Town values education, which gives our community its wings.

Come by and check it out for yourself and get involved by snapping some pictures and tagging the Town. Together, let's celebrate the power of art to unite and uplift our community!
