Community Appearance Commission (CAC)  Update: The CAC holds the Community Appearance Awards biennially.  At the November 13, 2023 Board of Commissioners meeting the nominees and winners were recognized. Each KDH business is judged on specific criteria including, but not limited to, landscaping, signage, maintenance, cleanliness, and amenities.

Save the Date for Trash Attack!: You can help make KDH a cleaner and brighter place by joining your neighbors on Saturday, March 23rd, from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., to pick up litter around our Town.

Save the Date for Trash Attack!: You can help make KDH a cleaner and brighter place by joining your neighbors on Saturday, March 23rd, from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., to pick up litter around our Town.

Trash Attack! is a community clean-up event, where volunteers head out across Town to "attack" the trash: beach, soundside, or anywhere in between. The event will kick-off at Aviation Park where participants will receive gloves, grabbers, and trash bags.
Complete the pre-registration form.

Don't forget about the poster contest! Calling all K-12 First Flight students or home-schooled students: We need you to use your artistic talent to design this year’s Trash Attack! poster! The poster should focus on the Trash Attack! event and keeping our community clean of litter. The contest is for K-12 (First Flight Students or KDH Residents). Posters should be on white 22"x 28" poster board, landscape format. On the back include name, age, grade, school, and parent / guardian's phone number and email. Prizes will be awarded for chosen posters! Submit poster to the Administration Department, KDH Town Hall, 102 Town Hall Drive, Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Poster Submission Deadline: March 1, 2024, 4 p.m.

2024 Primary Election - Early Voting Information

Early voting for the 2024 Primary Election began on Thursday, February 15, 2024, and runs on select dates through Saturday, March 2, 2024. View the early voting schedule/polling places.

  • Early voting allows any registered voter to cast an absentee ballot in person on select days prior to Election Day.
  • Early voting enables voters to avoid potential lines on Election Day and vote on convenient days and hours that work for your schedule.
  • Unlike on Election Day, when registered voters can only vote at their assigned precinct, early voting allows voters to vote at any early voting site in Dare County.
  • During early voting, voters may update their name and address on an existing registration record, but are not allowed to change their party affiliation.
  • Unregistered voters may complete a same-day registration and vote during early voting.
