KDH 101: Meet Your Governing Board

Do you ever wonder who runs our Town government?

The Town of Kill Devil Hills operates under a council-manager form of government. This style combines the leadership of the Town’s elected officials with the strong professional experience, direction, and vision of an appointed Town Manager.

The KDH Board of Commissioners is comprised of five members. The members are elected by YOU. Policy-making authority is vested in the governing board and among other things the board is responsible for establishing policy, adopting ordinances, adopting the Town's operating budget, and appointing boards and committees members.

The Town Manager is responsible for carrying out the policies and directives of the Board of Commissioners and oversees the day-to-day operations of the town. The Town Manager is the Chief Administrator for Kill Devil Hills with obligations that include, but are not bound to developing a recommended budget, supervising the administration of all Town Departments and Offices, ensuring that all laws of the State, the Town Charter, resolutions, and regulations set by the Board are followed, providing the Board with resources, recommendations, and generating discussions that result in action, and focusing on the needs of the entire community to make Kill Devil Hills the best it can be for everyone.

Seeking Input on 2023 Spongy Moth Control Activities

RALEIGH - The N.C.
