PLANNED TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE 

Seminole Street 
Tuesday April 26, 2022



The Town of Kill Devil Hills will have a temporary road closure beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, for Seminole Street at the north side of the intersection with West Third Street for utility and roadway improvements by Fred Smith Company.
 
Through traffic on Seminole Street at the intersection will be prohibited during this closure. Local traffic will access Seminole Street from the north using Clam Shell Drive. Creek Street to the west of the closure can be used to detour from West Third Street to Clam Shell Drive and on to Seminole Street. Seminole Street will remain open from the north for access to adjacent properties throughout the closure.
 
The temporary road closure is scheduled to end by 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26, 2022.

The Kill Devil Hills Public Services Department will conduct its fire hydrant flushing program beginning today, April 25th and lasting approximately until Friday, May 13th.  Customers may experience a momentary loss of water pressure or temporary water discoloration and should check color of water prior to washing clothing.  To find out if flushing is occurring in a specific area of Town, please call the Kill Devil Hills Public Services Department at (252) 480-4080.

Dare County to Host Household Hazardous Waste Collection May 12-14

he Dare County Public Works Department has announced that it will host a three-day household hazardous waste collection event from May 12-14, 2022, in three different locations throughout the county. 

During this event, Dare County residents and property owners can drop off hazardous waste for safe disposal at the following locations:

  • Northern Beach Collection: Kitty Hawk Town Hall (101 Veterans Memorial Drive), 9 a.m. to 3  p.m. on Thursday, May 12, 2022
  • Buxton Collection: Buxton Transfer Station, (47015 Buxton Back Road) 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, May 13, 2022
  • Manteo Collection: Dare County Public Works (1018 Driftwood Drive), 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2022

Residents of Dare County may use any of the three locations noted above during the three-day household hazardous waste collection event. 
Please note that this hazardous waste collection is only for Dare County residents (both property owners and year-round residents) as well as the agricultural community/farmers within Dare County. 

ACCEPTED MATERIALS:
Materials that will be accepted at all of the collection locations include paints, polishes, varnishes, paint-related materials, turpentine, aerosol cans, adhesives, motor oil, antifreeze, fuel additives, household cleaners, herbicides and insecticides, gasoline, mercury, pesticides, pool chemicals, fluorescent light bulbs, automotive batteries, small batteries and automotive fluids.
