Ongoing Road Closure: West Third Street at US 158

Monday, February 21 through Friday, March 18, 2022

The Town of Kill Devil Hills will have a temporary road closure beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, February 21, 2022, for West Third Street, from its intersection with US 158 to the Dare Centre entrance, for utility and roadway improvements by Fred Smith Company. The temporary road closure is scheduled to end by 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 18, 2022.

Keeping our community beautiful and litter-free is a team effort, which requires everyone’s help.  Do not place any debris for collection outside of your refuse container. All trash placed curbside for collection day should be securely contained within your refuse cart. Leaving any debris outside of refuse containers is prohibited in Kill Devil Hills. The Town will not collect trash, whether bagged or unbagged, that is not within the container.  Roll your refuse container back after collection. All refuse carts should be removed from the street right-of-way following each collection

Reminder: Colington Island is an unincorporated area in Dare County; therefore, refuse collection for all of Colington Island is conducted by Dare County. Questions regarding sanitation collection for unincorporated areas of Dare County should be addressed to the County’s Public Works Department at 252-475-5880
