Town Offices Open by Appointment Beginning Monday, August 16, 2021 On Tuesday, Governor Cooper reinforced the Centers for Disease Control’s revision of COVID protocols. Local governments in Dare County have done the same and adjustments to existing policy and procedure In areas of substantial or high transmission rates covering your face in indoor spaces, regardless of vaccination status, is now recommended. Dare County is now considered a high COVID transmission area: there were 31 new cases on Tuesday, with rapid escalation in hospitalizations – one of whom had been vaccinated. Most hospitalizations are linked to the COVID delta variant. Therefore, starting Monday, August 16, 2021 at 8:00 a.m., Kill Devil Hills town offices will now require staff and members of the public to cover your faces while in public spaces in our facilities. This will be required regardless of vaccination status. Walk-in traffic at town offices will be restricted: if you have business with the town call, email, or visit our website to gain assistance or to schedule an in-person appointment. Each department’s information and updates to their daily operations can be found at www.kdhnc.com. The following address is for a video on the vaccine and the current status of the virus in Dare County by Sheila Davies, Director of the Dare County Health Department https://youtu.be/unthlJwDrh0.
