Board of Commissioners Meeting:
In order to maintain the safety of Town residents, Staff, and board members, the Kill Devil Hills Board of Commissioners will conduct an electronic meeting on Monday, May 11, 2020, at 6:00 p.m., using Zoom software. There are several methods the public can participate in or view the meeting.

COVID-19 Bulletin #58 from Dare County Emergency Management

State Cases of COVID-19
In North Carolina, there are currently 13,868 cases of COVID-19 in 99 counties. There have been 527 fatalities in NC associated with COVID-19. Currently, the state is reporting 515 hospitalizations across the state from COVID-19 illness.

Moving Into Phase 1 of the State’s Stay at Home Order
Beginning at 5 p.m. today, Phase 1 of North Carolina’s Stay at Home Order becomes effective. More businesses can open and people are allowed to venture out for more reasons. Businesses that do open have to implement social distancing and cleaning rules, just like those currently in place at grocery and hardware stores. State parks can also open, but with limits on the number of people who can gather there.

Hydrant Flushing to Begin on 5/11

The Kill Devil Hills Public Services Department will conduct its fire hydrant flushing program beginning Monday, May 11, 2020, and lasting approximately until Friday, May 29, 2020. Customers may experience a momentary loss of water pressure or temporary water discoloration and should check color of water prior to washing clothing. To find out if flushing is occurring in a specific area of Town, please call the Kill Devil Hills Public Services Department at (252) 480-4080.

Construction at the Ocean Bay Boulevard Bathhouse

The flooring at the Ocean Bay Boulevard Bathhouse is scheduled to be replaced over the next several weeks. The construction is anticipated to be completed around mid-June. All access points to the beach and the rinse-off stations will continue to remain open to the public.

While the bathroom facilities have been and continue to be closed to the public (in accordance with the Governor's Executive Order to limit the spread of COVID-19), they will remain closed for at least the duration of the construction project. However, through the Town's contract with an outside vendor, accessible porta-johns will soon be placed at the Bathhouse for the public's use. The porta-johns will be routinely cleaned and sanitized by the vendor.

No matter which beach access you are visiting in Kill Devil Hills, the Town strongly encourages citizens to bring their personal hand sanitizer of at least 60% alcohol content, as access to soap and water will be limited.
