This poster was found in a dumpster after the old Kitty Hawk Motor Lodge was sold by Miss Goldie Meekins' family some years ago. We understand that it hung in the lobby/dining area for many years.

Town of Kill Devil Hills Receives Gift from Ann Parlette
Mrs. Ann Parlette passed away on January 29, 2011. She was the owner/operator of the Tomahawk Motel in Kill Devil Hills for about 25 years. She was also the editor, publisher and owner of the Surfside News and Guide, which was begun by Isabel Murphy, wife of Kill Devil Hills’ first mayor, Major Murphy. Mrs. Parlette was a founding member of the original Sea Hags fishing team. In 2002 she became a great supporter of Kill Devil Hills’ Great Food/Great Memories Cookbook, which included allowing use of Surfside News to find stories, photos, and editorials for reprint them.
Her last wishes included giving bound volumes of Surfside News, from its beginning to end (with the exception of two volumes, which were borrowed and never returned) to the Town of Kill Devil Hills.
Ann Parlette was a wonderful person and her kindness endows the citizens of Kill Devil Hills with a piece of our local history for generations to come. Her books are available for review at the Kill Devil Hills Town Hall, 102 Town Hall Drive, off Colington Road. Please see Pam, Harriet, or Mary in the Administration Department.
