      Objectives

      ·     To put required minimum manpower on emergency scenes in a timely manner.

      • To provide sufficient training opportunities to enable personnel to maintain certifications and skills required of firefighters and to comply with certification requirements established by the North Carolina Department of Insurance and the North Carolina State Firemen’s Association
      • Provide fire inspections within the Town of Kill Devil Hills
      • Present fire and life safety educational program to the public

      We Can Also Help

      • Physically challenged persons enjoy our beaches by transporting a wheelchair designed especially for the beach over the dune-line. The Fire Department and Ocean Rescue Division maintain beach wheelchairs that enable "mobility chanllenged" persons to go out onto the beach and enjoy the seashore.  The original beach wheelchair was provided through a grant from Easter Seals North Carolina and the Kate B. Reynolds Foundation.  There is, however, a requirement that persons borrowing the chair must be able to load it into their vehicle without the Fire Department's assistance, on the theory that the members of the department cannot be there to help get the chair out to go to the beach and back in the vehicle to return it.  Call or come by the Fire Station to make arrangements.  You may click here for additional information.

      • Ensure that your child safety seat is installed in accordance with North Carolina certified child safety seat regulations.  Just stop by the Fire Station!
