Board of Adjustment (BOA)
The BOA is a quasi-judicial body that operates under the provisions of Article XV, Chapter 153, Zoning. Additionally, the North Carolina General Statutes §160A-388 states that the BOA shall hear and decide appeals from and review any order, requirement, decision, or determination made by an administrative official charged with the enforcement of the Zoning Ordinance. An appeal may be taken by any person aggrieved or by an officer, department, board, or bureau of the city.
Members of the BOA are appointed for three-year terms, except for the chairperson who is appointed annually.
The BOA meets on an as-needed basis in the Meeting Room at the Administration Building, 102 Town Hall Drive, off Colington Road. Meetings are scheduled as much as possible without creating a burden on the applicant, for the last Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m.
The Town's Planning Department can assist anyone desiring to make an appeal to the BOA.
Administrative Specialist Pam Riddick serves as the Clerk to the BOA.
