Updated Beach Nourishment Project Schedule and Q & A Meeting

The contractor for the Town of Kill Devil Hills Beach Nourishment Project, and for the Towns of Duck and Kitty Hawk projects, Great Lakes Dredge and Dock (GLDD), has provided an updated projected schedule for the beach nourishment work.  The project dates for KDH have been moved forward and construction is now projected to begin in early August and conclude in early to mid-September, a potential overall time reduction of as much as 15 days.  Nourishment mobilization operations, including laying subline and assembling land based machinery, will begin approximately one month prior to construction to be ready once the construction dredge is on site.

A presentation with question and answer session by and with the Beach Nourishment Consultants, Coastal Planning and Engineering and GLDD will take place on Thursday, February 16 at 9:00 a.m. in the KDH Meeting Room at the Administration Building, 102 Town Hall Drive off Colington Road. This meeting is open to the public and all interested parties are welcome to attend. If you are unable to attend the meeting, a recording of the session will be available on the Town’s website, www.kdhnc.com and on the YouTube channel as soon as possible at the conclusion of the presentation.
