Commissioner Appleman and his family moved to Kill Devil Hills full time in 2007 and are proud to call it home. He and his wife, Katy, have two teenage children, Kaylee and Aaron.
He started his professional career with IBM in 1993 with a focus on personnel and project management. Commissioner Appleman earned his Project Management certification from George Washington University. He specialized in working with large-scale software and hardware development projects and coordinating resources from worldwide locations. The act of creating large-scale project plans with varying goals taught him the value of collecting feedback from many sources and then developing a solution that could be successfully implemented. He left IBM in May of 2010 to focus on a life long dream of owning an automotive small business. He and his wife Katy purchased and currently operate a local business in Kill Devil Hills.
