Membersof the Zoning Board of Adjustment (ZBOA) are appointed for three-year terms, except for the chairperson who is appointed annually.
The ZBOA is a quasi-judicial body that operates under the provisions of Article XV, Chapter 153, Zoning. Additionally, the North Carolina General Statutes §160A-388 states that the ZBOA shall hear and decide appeals from and review any order, requirement, decision, or determination made by an administrative official charged with the enforcement of the Zoning Ordinance.
An appeal may be taken by any person aggrieved or by an officer, department, board, or bureau of the city. The Town's Planning Department can assist anyone desiring to make an appeal to the ZBOA. Administrative Specialist Pam Riddick serves as the Clerk to the ZBOA.
